This Memorial, dedicated on July 28, 2023, welcomed local dignitaries and special guests from around the country.  This three-day event engaged community partners and other businesses to entertain, educate, and share the history of the Buffalo Soldiers, their presence at Fort Concho and their influence and impact on the development of San Angelo and the western territories.

Donations received from various sources included an anonymous donation of $300,000, $100,000 from the Bob and Doris Johnston Foundation, and grants from Humanities Texas for $15,000, the San Angelo Area Foundation for $15,000, and the San Angelo Health Foundation for $65,000.  The community and other interested parties provided additional generous donations totaling more than $15,000.   

This Memorial is dedicated in loving memory to the men and women who served in the U.S. Military and to those civilians who provided them critical support.
